Sherokee Ilse is a bereaved mother and parent advocate who also has authored 18 books and booklets, owns her own small publishing company (Wintergreen Press), and is an international expert and trainer in grief and loss. She is also a co-founder of Loss Doulas International and the Embrace Circle which works closely with the Genesis Clinics in Tucson to offer immediate one-on-one care and guidance at the time of miscarriage and other later baby losses. She lives in Tucson and trains medical providers, other birth and loss professionals, and is the founder and trainer of Baby Loss Family Advisors and Baby Loss Doulas. She runs two baby loss support groups in the Tucson area and consults internationally on the development of loss programs for communities, hospitals, clinics, and more. Ilse is a co-founders of the October Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month Campaign.
Some of her books and booklets include her first and most popular self-help book for parents and families, Empty Arms: Coping with Miscarriage, Stillbirth, and Infant Death. She also helps families with miscarriage (Miscarriage: A Shattered Dream), prenatal decision-making (Precious Lives, Painful Choices: A Prenatal Decision-making Guide) and even teach childbirth educators how to speak of unexpected outcomes as a normal part of their class (Presenting Unexpected Outcomes: A Childbirth Educator’s Guide.)
